Future transport solutions for today in Croydon Central
Project: Croydon Central Advisory
Client: Maroondah City Council
Date: 2024
Eukai was engaged by Maroondah City Council to provide transport advice for the redevelopment of Croydon Central Shopping Centre, with a focus on vehicle access to Wicklow Avenue and Kent Avenue. The challenge was to align proposed vehicle access arrangements with safety, compliance, and urban design principles to achieve Council's desired outcomes for improved pedestrian connectivity between the development and the new Croydon train station constructed as part of the Level Crossing Removal project.
Our Approach
Eukai combined technical expertise with engineering experience to develop practical solutions that meet today’s transport needs while aligning with future policy direction. Our role involved assessing vehicle access arrangements, refining pedestrian crossing designs, rationalising bus stop placements, and integrating active transport infrastructure. We worked collaboratively with the applicant’s consultant team and Council to develop a mutually agreed outcome. By collaborating with stakeholders, we ensured that all recommendations were coordinated, compliant, and strategically positioned to support long-term urban mobility goals.
The Impact
Eukai’s expert review has led to a refined development plan that enhances safety, accessibility, and efficiency. By proactively addressing stakeholder concerns and engaging with multiple decision makers, we have helped shape a solution that balances urban mobility needs with future growth.
