Victoria’s New Active Transport Plan released

Victoria releases Active Transport Plan

The Victorian Government has released the Active Transport Plan, setting direction for walking, cycling and other active modes across the state.

The Plan focuses on making it easier and safer for people to choose active transport for everyday trips. This includes travel to school, work, shops, public transport and local destinations.

It also reinforces the role of active transport in shaping safer streets, reducing emissions and improving health and wellbeing.

Delivery will rely on coordination with local councils, with a focus on practical improvements to networks and connections.

Why we think this matters

This is another signal of continued policy focus on active transport in Victoria. The challenge now shifts to delivery at the local level, where network gaps, street design and competing priorities need to be resolved.
