Suburban Rail Loop East Structure Plans released.

The Victorian Government has released the Standing Advisory Committee (SAC) reports for the Suburban Rail Loop East Structure Plans. The reports provide independent advice on the draft precinct plans and planning controls for the six new SRL East stations, following public consultation in 2025. Together, they will help shape future land use, housing, transport and infrastructure around one of Australia's largest city-shaping projects.

Why this matters

The Standing Advisory Committee reports do more than review the Suburban Rail Loop East Structure Plans. They provide independent guidance on how Melbourne should accommodate growth around major public transport investment. Beyond the SRL, the reports are likely to influence future precinct planning across Victoria by reinforcing new approaches to transport, parking, housing and place-making. For planners, councils and developers, they also provide a valuable reference on how evidence, policy and competing objectives can be balanced to deliver well-connected, transit-oriented communities.

Why Eukai is highlighing this as news:

The Standing Advisory Committee's recommendations are expected to influence not only the final Suburban Rail Loop East Structure Plans but also future precinct planning across Victoria. The project demonstrates the importance of combining strategic vision with robust technical evidence to deliver well-connected, transit-oriented communities.
